Summer 2026 Cooking Classes For Kids/Teens

Summertime at Escuela de Rogow Neighborhood Cooking School is pure magic!

With school out, the kitchen comes alive with hands-on classes all summer long. Choose from a variety of cooking series or workshops designed to build confidence, creativity, and real cooking skills. Days and times vary in hopes to provide a perfect fit for every young chef…as long as they are going into 3rd all the way up to 12th grade!!

How It Works

For those familiar with the summer registration process…it will be different this year. I hope for the better! Classes are also a tad longer.

The class calendar is available to view now. The initial enrollment period will run from February 9 at 9am until the end of the month. It is best to be ready with your selections before enrollment opens if you need specific dates. After selecting which series or workshops you would like to attend, simply click the Enroll/Purchase Class tab and purchase any series or workshop that is offered and available. Classes are open to all kids entering 3rd grade and above. No exceptions to the 3rd grade restriction.

Looking to mix and match cooking days all summer long? Any remaining openings within a series or workshop will be released as an à la carte class on April 1. Please note that the class menu may include elements that were partially prepared earlier in the series or workshop but don’t worry, there’s still plenty of hands-on cooking, tasting, and fun to go around. Simply visit the website on—or anytime after—April 1 to enroll. Continue checking the class calendar throughout the spring and summer to see what’s available. Spots could open up often or never. Be sure to follow us on Instagram for updates too!

Have a group of 6 to 10 kids and need a different schedule? Escuela de Rogow can host a private series or workshop just for your group. Classes don’t need to be back-to-back (à la carte days available after the initial enrollment period ends)—you just need to like what’s already on the menu that day! And bonus: in private classes, children who just miss the age requirement are welcome to cook alongside an older sibling or a parent. To get started, take a look at the summer schedule to check availability for private series, recruit your friends and then email me TODAY with your preferred dates and we’ll get things cooking. These dates may disappear quickly…so act fast!

Summer Cooking Series Pricing
• 4-Day Series — $325
• 3-Day Series — $250
• 2-Day Workshop — $175
• Single-Day Class — $90 (If four, three, or two individual classes within different series are purchased at the same time, the corresponding series pricing will apply.)

Just a heads-up: to guarantee your cook plenty of time in the kitchen this summer, it is highly recommend to enroll in a full series or workshop. Single-day spots may be limited and tend to fill quickly, making them more of a spontaneous treat than a sure thing.

What to Expect in the Kitchen

Classes take place in my outdoor kitchen and run for 2½ hours (note that class time has increased by 30 minutes). Cooks should be dressed in lightweight, breathable clothing and be sure they’ve had plenty of time to cool off before class begins. While our pavilion offers shade, the kitchen is still outdoors—and once the burners are on, things can heat up quickly! If a student arrives already overheated, it can be tricky for them to get comfortable once the cooking begins.

Students typically cook in pairs—ideally with kids or teens close in age, or with siblings and friends. Occasionally, students work solo or alongside me, but no matter the setup, everyone is fully hands-on. There’s no standing around here—the kids cook and clean everything themselves.

Cooking is only part of the fun. We love to socialize, listen to music, share stories, and take a few breaks along the way. The kitchen is lively, welcoming, and filled with laughter—and yes, we truly have a great time.

Of course, students get to eat what they cook and are encouraged to try everything! Most dishes come together toward the end of class, so please don’t arrive starving (though snacks and drinks are always available). If a student needs to leave early, no problem—food can be picked up later that day. Each class includes enough food to enjoy during class (as a snack, breakfast, lunch, or dinner—depending on timing) plus a little extra to take home and proudly share.

Make-Up Classes

Make-up classes are always an option when given advanced notice of an absence. Just let me know at least two hours in advance if your child can’t attend their scheduled class. I do save a spot in most classes for make-ups and we’ll find a space somewhere. within another class. If that doesn’t work, you’re welcome to transfer the class to another student or join a class in the spring or fall.
Please note: no-call/no-shows are not eligible for make-up classes.

Sibling Discount

A 15% sibling discount is happily offered. To receive your sibling registration code, please email escueladerogow@gmail.com before enrolling.

Please do not register or submit payment until you receive the code. Otherwise, you will be charged the service fee that is incurred when issuing a refund. Banks charge a fee for every transaction, so requesting the sibling discount in advance helps avoid an additional $10 service fee. The same policy applies to refunds. Credits toward future classes are always free. Thank you for understanding!
